New Name, Big Plans
After much thinking and fretting and planning and talking (mostly to myself and my ever patient son), I feel like it's time to start sharing my intentions with others.
As a 'Maker', I am often told I should sell my wares. "They're so beautiful! Everyone will want one! Have you ever thought about selling these?!?" I've always replied, "I don't want to make work out of what I love to do!" But why shouldn't I love my work? I mean, I do love my work, but how about my J.O.B.?
And yet... here I am...
I'm excited to take this on. I'm inspired to create new things. I want to share my enthusiasm for quilting and knitting with others and, let's be honest, if I can make a couple of bucks doing it then I can't complain.
I'll be starting small, mostly selling through friends, family and Facebook (business page coming soon!), and work my way up. I plan to share my quilting, sewing and knitting and eventually start designing some patterns for sale as well. While my preference at the moment is to take on commissioned work, I will be creating items for sale that will likely find their way into an Etsy shop.
I will get better at updating this blog on a regular basis. Finding the balance between creating and social media has been difficult, but with success comes new challenges! I will be sharing my projects and various bits of inspiration. I can't promise that some summer garden pictures and outdoor adventures won't sneak into the mix, but I'll try my best to stay focused. I feel like I'm going to quickly become one of those people hiking with a pack full of quilts and knitwear to find the perfect photographic opportunities! (Note to self: get a better camera.)
If you're still following this blog after all these years of my sporadic attention... thank you. I hope you decide to stay, because I've got some great things to share.
